This brought him back to Crested Butte where he taught at Western Colorado University for seven years in both the recreation and outdoor education program, as well as the business school, where he helped to create and taught in the country’s first MBA program focused on the Outdoor Industry. After many years of education and teaching, he ended up with his PhD focused in decision-making and risk management in adventure activities. After systematically going through every adventure sport and activity, he decided to pursue higher education at Indiana University. He guided extensively with schools in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. After doing this rotation for a few years, he was asked to move to Northwest Montana where he created, from scratch, an adventure program for an all-girls therapeutic boarding school. After graduating with a degree in Outdoor Recreation he continued to foster his love for the outdoors by guiding seasonally in California, Colorado and Utah all while coming back to CB to ski the winters. And the issue is not unique to the Po-amid dry climate conditions, rivers across the continent flowed slowly and even became impassable to barge traffic in August, wrote Kate Connolly for the Guardian.Jay Whitacre grew up exploring the woods and hills of southern Indiana and moved to Crested Butte for college at Western in the summer of 1998. Winter brought little relief to the parched river valley, and in early April, the river reached a 30-year seasonal low, as Paolo Santalucia reported for the Associated Press. Last summer, water levels dipped so much that a sunken World War II barge became visible. The Po is known for producing enormous catfish, but it’s at risk of drying up as an ongoing drought plagues the region. A post shared by Alessandro Biancardi madcat Biancardi did not keep the fish, it will qualify for the association’s new catch-and-release length record, as Travis Hall reports for Field & Stream magazine.
